Description

The Daraja Mbili Wholesale and Retail Market is a KES 204 million modern market facility in Kisii town, the second-largest open-air market in Nyanza after Kibuye in Kisumu. Originally started by the defunct Kisii Municipal Council in 2008, the project stalled for years before the National Government partnered with Kisii County Government to complete it. The three-storey structure includes a wholesale market, loading bays, cold rooms, a police post, cyber café, ATM facilities, offices, and kiosks. Construction was handed to contractors in June 2016 and completed by mid-2020.

Overview

Transformed Kisii's largest market from a dangerous roadside operation into a modern trading hub, improving safety and productivity for over 1,200 traders
