Description
Devki Steel Mills Limited, a subsidiary of the Devki Group owned by industrialist Narendra Raval, plans to construct a 60MW wind farm at Samburu within Kinango Sub-County, Kwale. The project involves installing 38 Vestas V90 wind turbines (3MW each) to generate electricity for the national grid and Devki's own Samburu steel plant operations. Located off the Mombasa-Nairobi highway, the wind conditions favor low-wind turbine technology. If approved, it would be Kenya's fourth major wind power plant after KenGen Ngong (26.1MW), Lake Turkana Wind Power (310MW), and Kipeto.
Overview
Would establish Kwale County as a wind energy producer, diversifying Kenya's renewable energy portfolio beyond the Rift Valley corridor.
