Description

The Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital is undergoing significant expansion and upgrading to provide specialized healthcare services. The project includes construction of a new medical complex with modern operating theatres, expanded ICU and HDU units, a renal dialysis centre, an oncology unit to address the high cancer burden in the region, and improved maternity services. Homa Bay County has one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in Kenya, and the hospital upgrade includes expanded HIV treatment and care facilities. The project is funded through county government resources, national government allocations, and development partner support including PEPFAR.
