Description
The Homa Bay-Mbita road is a 70km highway connecting Homa Bay town to Mbita Point, the gateway to Rusinga and Mfangano islands on Lake Victoria. The road passes through key trading centres and fishing communities along the lakeshore. The rehabilitation project included complete resurfacing, drainage improvements, bridge repairs, and installation of road safety features. The road is critical for the fishing industry as it connects major fish landing sites to markets in Homa Bay and beyond. It also supports tourism to the Tom Mboya Mausoleum on Rusinga Island and other cultural heritage sites.
