The project includes construction of additional wards, a modern ICU, an expanded casualty and emergency department, specialized clinics for diabetes and cancer, and an upgraded maternity wing. The hospital also serves as a teaching facility for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kakamega campus.
