Benefits
Description
The Kericho-Kisii-Migori-Isebania dual carriageway is part of President William Ruto's comprehensive national road expansion program announced in November 2025 during the Rironi-Mau Summit highway launch. The project will transform the existing road linking the tea highlands of Kericho through the commercial hub of Kisii, past Migori, to the Tanzania border at Isebania into a modern dual carriageway. This corridor currently handles heavy traffic as part of the A1 highway connecting Tanzania to South Sudan. The dual carriageway would complement the ongoing Isebania-Kisii-Ahero rehabilitation project by significantly expanding road capacity along this critical trade corridor.
Overview
Would create a high-capacity trade route from the Rift Valley through Nyanza to the Tanzania border, supporting cross-border trade and transforming economic prospects for Kisii, Migori, and surrounding counties.
