Description
The Kenya Airports Authority expanded Kisumu International Airport's terminal in preparation for the May 2022 Africities Conference. The KSh 240 million project was undertaken by China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation and completed within 90 days. Works included construction of a mezzanine floor in the passenger terminal, extension of the terminal building to provide an additional boarding gate area, expanded arrivals hall, and a landside vehicle grade parking area. The expansion doubled the airport's passenger handling capacity to accommodate growing demand from airlines including Kenya Airways, Jambojet, Fly540, and Safarilink Aviation.
