Description

The Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA) has been implementing water supply infrastructure across the Lake Victoria South basin serving Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and Kericho counties. The agency has developed water treatment plants, trunk delivery pipelines, storage tanks, and distribution networks to address critical water shortages. Key projects include the Kisumu water supply system serving the city and surrounding areas, water supply schemes in Homa Bay and Migori, and pipeline extensions to rural areas. The agency's Kisumu water master plan includes provisions for water supply from the proposed Koru-Soin Dam. LVSWWDA's acting CEO Christine Juma has been actively lobbying for the dam's completion to enable expanded water supply across both Kisumu and Kericho counties.

Overview

Critical for addressing chronic water shortages across the Lake Victoria South basin, improving public health, supporting agriculture, and enabling economic development in one of Kenya's most densely populated regions.
