The Lamu Port at Manda Bay is the marine component of the LAPSSET Corridor. The first three berths have been constructed by China Communications Construction Company. Berth 1 was completed and received its first vessel in 2021. The port is designed to handle containerized cargo, bulk cargo, and conventional cargo, with an ultimate capacity of 32 berths. It provides Kenya with a second major deepwater port, reducing congestion at Mombasa and opening up the northern corridor.
