Description
The Last Mile Connectivity Project is a massive national electrification programme implemented by Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) with government funding and AfDB/World Bank support. The project aims to connect every Kenyan household and business within 600 meters of an existing transformer to the electricity grid at subsidized costs. Starting around 2015, it dramatically increased Kenya's electricity access rate from around 30% to over 75% by 2023, connecting millions of households particularly in rural areas.
Overview
One of Africa's most successful electrification campaigns, dramatically improving electricity access and enabling economic activity across rural Kenya.
