Description
The Bagamoyo-Horohoro/Tanga-Malindi Road is a transnational highway connecting Kenya and Tanzania along the East African coast. The Kenya section runs from Lunga Lunga border through Mombasa to Malindi, approximately 460km total. At 70% completion as of 2025, the KES 7.5 billion Mombasa section (Nyali-Mtwapa) is the most advanced segment. The highway is funded by the African Development Bank and the EU, and will facilitate cross-border trade between Mombasa Port, Tanga Port, and Dar es Salaam, benefiting landlocked countries including DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, and South Sudan.
