Description
The Malindi-Sala Gate Road is a tarmac road connecting the tourist town of Malindi in Kilifi County to the Sala Gate entrance of Tsavo East National Park. Costing KES 4.15 billion, the road has dramatically reduced the travel time from Malindi to Tsavo from over 5 hours to approximately 2 hours, creating a seamless beach-to-safari tourism circuit. The road also serves agricultural communities along the route and improves connectivity for remote areas between the coast and the park.
Overview
Created a direct tourism corridor between Malindi's beach tourism and Tsavo's safari tourism, enabling combined holiday packages that benefit both destinations.
