Description
A new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) block is under construction at Malindi Sub-County Hospital, funded by the Coast Development Authority (CDA). During the COVID-19 pandemic, Malindi had only one ICU, forcing patients to travel over 100km to Mombasa for critical care. The new ICU will serve residents of Malindi, and the wider Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, and Garissa counties, significantly improving emergency healthcare access for the North Coast region.
Overview
Addresses critical healthcare gap in the North Coast, providing ICU services for a population of over 2 million who previously had no local intensive care facilities.
