Description

The ongoing expansion of Mombasa Port (Kilindini Harbour) includes the construction of a second container terminal, new berths, deepening of the channel, installation of modern ship-to-shore gantry cranes, and construction of the Kipevu Oil Terminal. Japan (JICA) has been a major financier of the port expansion. The port is managed by the Kenya Ports Authority and handles over 30 million tonnes of cargo annually, serving Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, and South Sudan.

Overview

East Africa's largest port, serving six landlocked countries. Expansion critical to maintaining regional competitiveness against Dar es Salaam and Djibouti ports.
