Description
The Ngong Hills Wind Farm is Kenya's first grid-connected wind power station, located at Ngong Hills in Kajiado County. Initially commissioned in 1993 with just 2 turbines, it has been expanded in phases. KenGen operates the facility which currently has a capacity of 25.5MW from multiple Vestas and Gamesa turbines. Phase 2 was funded by the Spanish government and added 6.8MW. The wind farm has served as a proving ground for Kenya's wind energy industry.
Overview
