Description
The Nyansiongo-Manga-Ikonge road project involved upgrading a 22km stretch from Nyansiongo through Manga to Ikonge from murram to bitumen standard. The road traverses key tea-growing zones in Nyamira County and connects several trading centres. Previously, the road was impassable during rainy seasons, isolating farming communities and causing significant post-harvest losses for tea and pyrethrum farmers. The project was funded through the Kenya Rural Roads Authority and included proper drainage, culverts, and road markings.
Overview
Opened up productive tea farming areas in Nyamira's highlands, significantly reducing post-harvest losses
