Description

The Ogembo-Ikonge-Nyamache road upgrade project involved the construction of a bitumen-surfaced road connecting Ogembo town in Kisii County through Ikonge to Nyamache. The 25km road serves as a key feeder road linking agricultural zones in southern Kisii and northern Nyamira with the main A1 highway. Funded by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and the national government, the project included drainage improvements, culvert construction, and road safety features. The road passes through some of Kenya's most productive tea and banana farming zones.

Overview

Critical agricultural corridor reducing post-harvest losses by improving market access for tea, banana, and avocado farmers
