Description
The Shinyalu-Khayega-Yala road project involves upgrading a 20km stretch from Shinyalu through Khayega to Yala town at the Kakamega-Siaya county border. The road passes through the Kakamega Forest area and serves agricultural communities growing sugarcane, tea, and maize. Previously a murram road that became impassable during rains, the upgrade to bitumen standard includes proper drainage to protect the adjacent Kakamega Forest ecosystem. The project is funded through KeRRA and county government contributions.
